KARMA AUTOMOTIVE’S INNOVATION AND CUSTOMIZATION CENTER EARNS ISO 9001 AND 14001 CERTIFICATIONS
Irvine, Calif. (April 3, 2019) – In a resounding endorsement of its commitment to quality and environmental practices, Southern California-based Karma Automotive today announced its Karma Innovation and Customization Center (KICC) has achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications.
Assessed by the Certification and Business Enhancement Division of SGS North America Inc., the certifications validate the rigorous processes used by KICC, located in Moreno Valley, Calif., to ensure quality and customer satisfaction and to protect the environment.
“This important third-party endorsement is proof of Karma’s commitment to continuous improvement,” notes Jack Graff, Vice President, Manufacturing at Karma Automotive. “At KICC, our overriding priority is 100 percent customer satisfaction, and we are proud to show our customers and key stakeholders that the processes we follow uphold the highest standards.”
KICC is home to more than 200 highly skilled craftspeople who will produce the all-new 2020 luxury electric Revero, debuting next month at Auto Shanghai 2019 and available for sale or lease during the second half of this year. The 550,000-square-foot facility was established in 2015 and is just 60 miles from the company’s global headquarters in Irvine, Calif.
Karma voluntarily sought ISO certification to further illustrate its commitment to world-class craftsmanship. During the certification process, the automaker consistently demonstrated its ability to meet applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and exemplified its commitment to training and continuous improvement.
ISO 9001 defines quality management principles, with a focus on efficiency, while ISO 14001 covers environment management systems and certifies that Karma’s operations minimize harmful effects on the environment. In 2018, energy consumption at KICC dropped 21 percent year-over-year, following an effort to better balance peak usage times. Additionally, this year, the facility has taken up initiatives aimed at reducing water and gas consumption.
A KICC Dedication Ceremony is scheduled for April 9 when the automaker formally introduces the facility as a center of engineering excellence and a hub for exclusive design and customization.
